Welcome to MKM Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Recovery
Studio!
At MKM, we believe in the power of martial arts and holistic
recovery to transform lives. Our studio offers Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
classes for all ages, from young children as young as 5 years old to
seniors up to 80 years old. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn self-defence
or an experienced practitioner aiming to refine your skills, our classes are
designed to cater to all levels.
In addition to our Jiu Jitsu classes, we provide a
unique recovery room experience. Our recovery facilities include
state-of-the-art saunas and ice baths, perfect for
post-training recovery and overall wellness. These amenities help our members
rejuvenate their bodies, reduce muscle soreness, and enhance their overall
training experience.
Our Mission
We aim to create a safe and
inclusive space where we teach, instil, and guide the art of Brazilian Jiu
Jitsu to a diverse community of all cultures, religions, and ages. Our space is
for everyone, not just one person!

young (Rangatahi) and old (Kaumatua), ensuring that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is taught

Our Journey
MKM Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Recovery Studio officially
opened its doors on September 14th, 2024. Since then, we have been
dedicated to building a supportive and inclusive community where everyone can
thrive.
Meet Our Team
- Whakamoe
Soutar: Head Black Belt Professor. With extensive experience and a
deep passion for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Whakamoe leads our training programs
and ensures that every student receives top-notch instruction and
guidance.
- Jamie
Soutar: Administrator / Crowd Control. Jamie plays a crucial role in
managing the studio’s operations and ensuring a smooth and organized
environment.
- Mila-Riann
Soutar: Kid Class Helper. Mila-Riann assists with our children’s
classes, helping to create a fun and engaging learning experience for our
youngest members.
Family-Owned and Community-Driven
As a family-owned business, we thrive off the support and
spirit of our local hapori (community). Our commitment to fostering
a welcoming and inclusive environment is at the heart of everything we do.
